You care about your appearance
You shower every day.
You change your clothes daily.
So, why do you wear the same dirty shoes for months on end?
That's easy: You haven't had any other options.
Until now.
Why sweaty feet stink
How hot is it inside your shoes?
The temperature inside your shoes can easily reach 120 degrees in the summer! That's hot.
Do everyone's feet perspire?
Yes, everyone's feet do perspire, although the amount of perspiration varies from person to person and according to our level of physical activity.
It's no wonder that feet often smell. Your feet have twice the number of perspiration glands that your underarms have, and they have 2.5 times more skin area.
Under normal conditions our feet perspire about a half pint per day. Most of this perspiration gets absorbed by the leather in our footwear.
Why do sweaty feet stink?
Sweat itself doesn't smell. It's the action of the bacteria in your shoes that causes your feet and shoes to stink.
Two species of bacteria settle into your shoes. They eat your perspiration and then defecate. That defecation contains isovaleric acid. Among other negative effects, this acid gives footwear a distinctive malodorous condition. In other words, when you smell stinky shoes and feet, you're smelling that isovaleric acid.

So, here are the steps in the production of foot and shoe odor:
- Your feet perspire.
- Bacteria feed on your sweat.
- The bacteria defecate.
- The feces release isovaleric acid.
- The isovaleric acid causes that bad foot smell.
DelColl is working on an elegantly simple solution that will end foot odor.
